Anya Sitaram is an award winning broadcaster who became a familiar face to millions in the UK as ITN’s Health and Science correspondent before covering medical and technological breakthroughs around the world as a presenter on the BBC’s flagship science programme, Tomorrow’s World.

Anya was also an anchor on Sky and BBC World news, covering major international stories and geopolitics. With her journalistic expertise, she has served as a trusted moderator and conference chair for the UN, European Commission, non-governmental organisations and leading corporations.

Behind the camera, Anya has also thrived as a filmmaker. She has produced dozens of documentaries broadcast on tv channels around the globe. Her films often revolve around her interest in global health, science, environment and international development. 

Anya approaches conferences much like a live broadcast. She takes the stage thoroughly briefed and ensures events run smoothly and on time. Discussions are dynamic and free flowing with insightful conclusions and impactful outcomes.

Q&A with Anya

  • Moderating the headline science and innovation event for the COP 26 presidency. The audience in the room was small but distinguished with former Senator John Kerry and former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi near the front row. It was an honour to facilitate such a high profile event on the defining issue of our time.

  • Of course there have been technical glitches during virtual conferences, but my experience with live television where things often go wrong is a huge advantage to me. There have been uncomfortable questions on occasion from the audience for prominent speakers, but I’ve always found ways to smooth these over. I’m known for thinking fast on my feet and improvising.

  • Facilitating lively discussions with humour and building a rapport with the audience. Listening carefully so that I can steer discussions to positive and impactful outcomes.

  • I am particularly interested in the environment, health and science as these are the topics I specialised in as a journalist. But being a journalist, I’m also trained to be able to research and converse on virtually any topic.

  • I really enjoy the in-depth research required for an event, writing scripts and working closely with conference organisers to develop the best format. It’s also an opportunity to meet some extraordinary people.
